Book Constructions - Plant Paper Making Art

New work! I’ve been experimenting even further with Phragmites Australis, a.k.a., Common Reed. Aptly named, this is a displaced and troublesome plant species found in North America and here in Rhode Island.

With these new sculptural objects, I chose to process the plants when they are still fresh and green, as opposed to the dried, brown stalks. The paper is surprisingly strong and sturdy! And fairly open to manipulation as they dry, as you can see in this new work.
