More Details

Join papermaker and visual artist May Babcock on a morning walk along the Gale River Road (FR 92) in the White Mountain National Forest. You'll help harvest canary grass, knotweed, and nodding plumeless thistle that will be used to hand-make paper at May's "pop-up paper mill" event on August 31st. May will talk about her work and the history and process of making paper, and Marianne Leberman of the WMNF will share information about Forest ecology. The road crosses over Gale River and is flat, easy, and beautiful.

Families are welcome. Please meet at the first bridge along the trail (1/4-1/2 mile from the parking lot). The walk will begin at 9am. Parking is available in a small lot on Route 3. The parking lot is the first entrance on the right about 1/2 mile past the Mt. Cleveland Scenic Point if coming from the south on Route 3, or is the first left after the Trudeau Road/Welcome to Bethlehem sign on Route 3 if coming from the north.
